In a world that seems completely out of control and often times out of our hands, I frequently ask myself,

“What do I stand for?”

This project dives deep into dystopia and explores subjects such as gender, identity, sexuality, and race.

 

It is woven with theory proposed by Edouard Glissant, Legacy Russell, Michel Foucault, and Judith Butler. Footwear is used as a vehicle/platform to express these ideas and portray them in a way that are digestible and accessible.

 

The entirety of “What Do We Stand For?” has been showcased in three separate exhibitions at the Rhode Island School of Design.
